The Delaware and Hudson was home to several ALCO designs, and a whole bunch of unique paintschemes, with the first 6 examples originally being ordered for the New York Central, but were never accepted and became a part of the D&H, which explains their high hood compared to the rest of the examples.

 

These Road switchers would last all of the way till the end of the 80s under the D&H’s ownership, with all of the high hoods scrapped, and all but one of the low hoods, the one survivor being D&H #5010, now owned by the Buffalo Southern, and still operates there to this very day.
