While there were a variety of flangers of different shapes on the Canadian Pacific, this specific set was rebuilt from CPR’s 247000 Boxcars from the late 1920s-1930s.

Rebuilt in 1966-67, the Flangers were seen strictly in maintenance of way service all across the CPR’s system, from Ontario to Nova Scotia, these are where the flangers worked.

 

By the 90s, the Flangers had been retired from service, with Flanger #400573 being the only survivor, on Display at the Revelstoke Railway Museum in BC.
