Maine Central U18B Guilford Scheme
The U18B was an 1800 horsepower diesel locomotive produced as part of General Electric's Universal or "U-boat" line in the 1970s. Of a few customers that bought the U18B were the Seaboard Coast Line and Maine Central, the latter of which named their fleet of 10 units after notable figures and heroes in the American Revolutionary War. Originally clad in the yellow and green of MEC, their U18Bs received the Guilford's scheme of dark gray with orange stripes in the 1980s. They were retired by the 1990s.
