Amtrak Classic Era Baggage Cars ex NYC/PC
A pack of streamlined Amtrak heritage fleet baggage cars in Phase I and III schemes. In its formation in 1971, the new passenger rail operator for the US had to rely on inherited cars and locomotives from their former owners. These baggage cars were originally built by American Car and Foundry for New York Central during the heyday of passenger rail travel and fell into Penn Central ownership after the merger with the Pennsylvania Railroad. Following the infamous bankruptcy PC's passenger assets were ceded into Amtrak when it was founded by the government not too long after. The heritage fleet baggage cars were converted from steam to head-end power for heating in the 80s and later retired by the mid 2010s when the Viewliner baggage cars were introduced. Seven car numbers for both phases are included in the pack.
