Another early Maple Leaf Depot release, now back with a new look.

The H-16-44 was Fairbanks-Morse’s most successful Road Switcher in terms of production, with a total of 299 units being built for the US, Canada, and Mexico.

The Canadian units in particular were produced by the Canadian Locomotive Company, or CLC for short, with Canadian National’s examples being built in 1955 by the company.

 

Unlike the Canadian Pacific examples, CN’s examples didn’t last as long, being withdrawn by 1966-67, and all scrapped by the end of the decade.

 

Two and a half of them still exist in Mexico, although that would’ve been three and a half if CPR #8554 was saved as well, but was unfortunately scrapped by the end of 2023.
