CPR/VIA E8s

Built in December 1949 before GMD was opened, these three E-units were built to serve the Montreal-Boston service, and were the only three E-units ever built for a Canadian Railroad. These engines would swap services from time to time during their tenure, but only two of the three made it to VIA Rail in 1978, as #1801 suffered a nasty head-on collision on December 28th, 1968.

There on VIA, they would be in service for an extra four years, with the remaining two being renumbered from #1800 and #1802 to #1898 to #1899 during that period, they would finally be withdrawn in 1982, and sold for scrap between 1984 and 1985 respectively, unfortunately, no one has considered preserving any of the remaining two.
